The article deals with the electronic tools that can support and help the teaching of Latin language and culture both in high schools and universities and highlights how the teaching of Latin can become a way to increase the digital skills of students, often limited to a low level use of the internet and social networks, and an introduction to the philological method. For a purpose of general introduction, both for scholarly and educational use, it illustrates the reliability characteristics of the main databases that give access to Latin texts, focusing in particular on the digital library digilibLT. Then an example is given of how the use of digital tools can serve to meet the interests of students and also to arouse them when they are not immediately aware and expressed: through the digital library digilibLT a search is done for the term pestilentia, analyzing the results about the Plague Antonina, putting it in relation with the recent Covid experience.
