La parentela spirituale nelle Alpi occidentali: due casi di studio tra Piemonte, Savoia e Delfinato (secoli XVI-XVII)

Spiritual Kinship between Piedmont, Savoy and Dauphiné in the Early Modern Age This article presents the results of a research dedicated to some parishes located in Dauphiné and in the Susa valley between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It underlines the effects which the reforms introduced by the Council of Trent had on spiritual kinship, also considering the peculiar social and institutional systems of the alpine communities. These mountain territories were indeed crossed by trade flows which involved the economies of the villages. The article suggests that spiritual kinship could play a role in the economics relationships that connected merchants, innkeepers and muleteers, in a plot of illicit relations opposed by the locals authorities, who tried to stop the smuggling of wine in the city of Susa, which eluded ancient privileges of the community
