Abstract

Cardiovascular disease and, in particular, coronary artery disease represent the principle cause of hospitalization in the industrialized countries. Over the past thirty years, since the first coronary angioplasty, interventional cardiology underwent major evolution in the treatment of ischemic cardiomyopathy. While percutaneous coronary intervention has dramatically changed the outcome in the acute coronary syndrome setting, its role in the treatment of chronic stable angina is still debated. The aim of this review is to analyze the characteristics of the new anti - anginal drugs in relation to coronary revascularization.
