Un monastero in un territorio d’acque: San Genuario (Crescentino, Vercelli) in età medievale. Dati per una prima contestualizzazione, in "Da San Genuario all’Europa. The paper analyses the monastery of San Genuario di Lucedio, in the lower Vercelli plain, first examining its insertion in a territorial context characterised by a dense hydrographic network, which since the origins of the institution played as an important resource for the development of the coenoby, also in terms of property and economy. The study gives some insights on the monastic structures, based on the written sources as well as the material evidence, proposing an initial framework of the church’s development between the Romanesque age and the end of the Middle Ages. A dynamic overview emerges, marked by the presence of multiple construction phases, the dating of which poses questions that can be answered with further research, and also through the continuation of the archaeological investigations carried out on the site between 2023 and 2024.
