This article addresses the themes of individuation and singularity in Schelling’s early philosophy of nature. Assessing a specific corpus of works (Ideas for a Philosophy of Nature, On the World Soul, First Outline of a System of the Philosophy Nature, and its Introduction), I aim to elucidate Schelling’s understanding of the living form as a non-bodily, intensive, heterogeneous, and yet singular act expressing the infinite activity of nature.

Abstract

This article addresses the themes of individuation and singularity in Schelling’s early philosophy of nature. Assessing a specific corpus of works (Ideas for a Philosophy of Nature, On the World Soul, First Outline of a System of the Philosophy Nature, and its Introduction), I aim to elucidate Schelling’s understanding of the living form as a non-bodily, intensive, heterogeneous, and yet singular act expressing the infinite activity of nature.
