Scientific production involves authorship, writing and peer review. These three components are closely interconnected and are evolving strongly and rapidly due to both widespread practices and technological developments. On the one hand, authorship is becoming increasingly blurred and less tied to writing; on the other, Artificial Intelligence systems appear increasingly capable of intervening heavily in writing, if not even replacing the human author; and the role of the reviewer, already difficult, is becoming even more complicated. We need to reflect in a manner appropriate to the times on what authorship, writing and peer review are and what we want them to be.

Abstract
Scientific production involves authorship, writing and peer review. These three components are closely interconnected and are evolving strongly and rapidly due to both widespread practices and technological developments. On the one hand, authorship is becoming increasingly blurred and less tied to writing; on the other, Artificial Intelligence systems appear increasingly capable of intervening heavily in writing, if not even replacing the human author; and the role of the reviewer, already difficult, is becoming even more complicated. We need to reflect in a manner appropriate to the times on what authorship, writing and peer review are and what we want them to be.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
