Until now, the only known evidence of the twelfth-century prose translation of St Bernard's Sermones super Cantica was the manuscript Nantes, Musée Dobrée, 5. This collection contains the text of sermons 1 to 44, which might suggest that the translation was incomplete. The sale of two fragments containins parts of sermon 77 has changed our knowledge of this text and its circulaiton. This article examines these brief fragments, in an attempt to demonstrate that the translation of the Bernard's text was originally complete.
