Euroscepticism was a key concept at the beginning of the 21st century, as a consequences of the problems emerging in the process of European integration. This article examines the political thought of left Euroscepticism, by discussing three points: firstly, the Eurosceptic debate between the adoption of Lisbon Treaty and the financial crisis; secondly, the publication of essays characterized by a higher level of sovereignism; thirdly, the effects of these ideas on a series of Italian thinkers. In the final section, the article focuses on three different form of left Euroscepticism: the constructive” proposals aimed at reforming EU; the “destructive” approach of the sovereignist intellectuals; the “reconstructive” attitude of radical philosophers refusing EU in order to rebuild a new Europe.
