A short chapter on the men who worked in printing houses from a seventeenth-century moral treatise is here published and presented. The author, Giuseppe da Novi, a Capuchin monk, shows himself to be well-informed about the working practices, on occasion fraudulent, which took place in printing houses. His text constitutes first-hand evidence of activities which book historians have had to reconstruct using other methods.
