This paper proves that a quotation Budé ascribed to “Theodore Gaza’s Laelius” was actually taken from Gaza’s Greek translation of Cicero’s Cato maior de senectute. Moreover, Budé cites an excerpt from George Scholarios’ Confessio fidei posterior, a work with which Budé got acquainted thanks to histeacher George Hermonymos, who translated it into Latin

Abstract
This paper proves that a quotation Budé ascribed to “Theodore Gaza’s Laelius” was actually taken from Gaza’s Greek translation of Cicero’s Cato maior de senectute.
