The essay aims at providing an overall picture of the individual motion of no confidence inside the Italian constitutional order. The paper is divided into three sections: the first one is devoted to the analysis of the theories proposed by scholars starting from 1960s and 1970s, until the Court’s sentence on Mancuso case (Case n. 7/1996); the second is devoted to the reconstruction of the “tormented” relationship between the individual motion of no confidence and the power to revocation in light of a comparison between the relationship between the Parliament and the Government and the one between Regional Councils and their Presidents. The last section is devoted to the most recent parliamentary usual procedure analysis.
